" Be sure, as the sun’s last rays pass behind Vancouver Island, to listen to the water. Usually the gentle lapping of the waves quietly splashes like a metronome, keeping perfect time with the tides. But at dusk, listen. You may well hear an evening visitor, a porpoise or small whale, coming to the channel to feed. It’s tail will splash, and you’ll hear its breath, and it will disappear beneath the Kaleidoscopic waves to eat whatever it will."
